Simple Roasted Brussels Sprouts Recipe

Prep Time - 3 min

Cook Time ~ 35 min

Yield ~ 3 side servings


Ingredients

  • 16 oz Brussels sprouts (ends trimmed and cut in halves)

  • salt to taste

  • 1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper

  • 2 cloves garlic (crushed or minced)

  • 1-2 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1/2 tsp honey

  • 1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar



Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400 deg F. Line a baking pan or baking sheet with foil.

  2. Place the brussels sprouts on the sheet and drizzle with olive oil.

  3. Sprinkle liberally with salt and the black pepper. Add the garlic and toss so that all the brussel sprouts are coated.

  4. Roast in the oven for 30 - 35 min, mixing halfway, until cooked through. (some will be a crispy, charred color on the outside and fork tender) Remove from oven to serving dish.

  5. Whisk honey and balsamic vinegar together and drizzle over the sprouts. Toss and serve warm.

We absolutely love brussels sprouts as a side and made in almost every way. I love ordering them from restaurants and tasting various versions as well as making them at home.

Since we eat them very often there are two methods I use. One is to sauté them in a pan if I only have 15-20min to make them. The other, which I prefer, is to roast them in the oven if I have about 40min for them to cook. Both are so easy but the oven has a slightly longer cook time. The oven gives it this lovely charred, crisp caramelized flavor.

When roasting in the oven to that delicious crispy texture, be sure to toss halfway through for even cooking. This recipe uses a bit of honey and balsamic vinegar in addition to salt, pepper, crushed garlic and some olive oil. There are variations that use bacon bits, parmesan or even sriracha. All taste SO good, so feel free to get creative!
