This shake is home made and delicious with a whopping 30g of protein.
I have tried several different brands of of ready to drink protein shakes as well as protein powders and every one of them has been too sweet for me to get through the first sip. This inspired me to try some home made protein smoothies. I finally figured out one I love and had to document the combination. It is a pretty simple recipe that can be modified as desired just be sure to adjust carb and protein count accordingly.
I am also not a fan of the taste of artificial sweeteners and in the good faith of keeping this low carb I could not add too much fruit to sweeten. The game changer for me to help add some chocolate sweetness and extra protein is Fairlife Chocolate Milk. It has 13g of protein per cup.
Other ingredients are plain greek yogurt (22g protein per cup), peanut butter (8g protein per 2 Tbsp) and flax seeds (4g protein per 2 Tbsp) which also adds extra fiber to the smoothie. Using a high power blender helps to get the flax seeds finer. I like to use the Blendtec.
Ice can be used to thicken and cool the smoothie. I hate wasting ingredients so the volume for this smoothie is perfect for me as 1 serving size. Blend until smooth and enjoy!
